Photos of Japan: Tokyo from above

It’s pretty hard to get your head around what it means to live in a metropolitan area that is home to roughly 37 million people….the massive, sprawling, living, breathing, pulsating entity…wait, that makes is sound like an enlarged version of the creature from Alien…

It’s basically neigh on impossible to understand, especially if you’re close to the ground, where never-ending cities/towns/suburbs blend into a uniform mass of train stations, town centres and housing quarters. It’s from above, like the 60th floor of Sunshine City, that you get a sense of how big it really is….even form this height, close to the centre of Tokyo, it never ends.
